1/ What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are semi-permanent synthetic fibers that are applied to natural eyelashes with a medical-grade glue. They help to add length and fullness to your lashes.

Before every appointments, Sweet Lashes Australia Master Artist will give you a comprehensive consultation to help you decide the best set that complements your natural beauty features.

4/ Is cleaning my eyelash extensions important? And how do I clean them?

Yes, cleaning your eyelash extensions is very important. We recommend cleaning them daily using our Sweet Lashes Australia (SLA) Foaming Eyelash Cleanser, which has an oil-free formula specially designed for eyelash extensions. This Cleanser comes as a kit with a Cleansing Brush and they are available to purchase in store.

Here is step-by-step instructions on how to use our SLA Foaming Eyelash Cleanser:

1) Wet your eyelashes with water.

2) Apply one pump of SLA Foaming Eyelash Cleanser to the cleansing brush included with the bottle.

3) Gently massage the foam cleanser around your lashes and eyelids for at least 5 seconds.

4) Rinse off thoroughly with water.

5) Gently pat dry with a lint-free towel.

5/ How often should I come back for refills?

Every 2-4 weeks.

The reason is that a full cycle of eyelashes often lasts between 6-8 weeks, and all of our natural eyelashes are at different stages of their growth cycle. After 2 weeks, you will notice some gaps appearing when the new natural lashes come out replacing the natural lashes that fall out with extensions attached to them. Therefore, we recommend you get your refills done every 2-4 weeks to keep your lashes always nice and full.

6/ Where is Sweet Lashes Australia located?

7/ Will eyelash extensions damage my natural lashes?

The answer is no given that the eyelash extensions are applied properly. This means that if you get your eyelash extensions done by an inexperienced or unqualified lash technicians, your natural lashes can get damaged. This happens when the extensions are applied on more than one natural lash. Since our natural lashes are all at different growth stages, they grow at different speeds and the faster growing one will pull out the other lash/lashes causing irritations and pains on the lash line. Damage can also occur if the extensions are too long or heavy for the natural lashes to handle. At Sweet Lashes Australia, your eyelash health is important to us and we always take extra care to make sure that our eyelash extensions are all applied individually and properly. All our eyelash extension sets are guaranteed with no clumps, no damage and complete comfortability while wearing.

8/ How do I know if my eyelash extensions were applied properly?

A properly applied set of eyelash extensions causes no pain or irritation after the application or when natural lashes grow out. They should feel weightless like your own natural lashes. Another indicator of correctly applied eyelash extensions is that you can be able to comb your lashes smoothly from base to the ends with mascara wands. If you feel your lashes stuck together or painful a few days after the application when your lashes grow out, it means that the eyelash extensions were applied incorrectly.

9/ What is the best eyelash extension style for almond eyes?

Almond-shaped eyes are the most common eye shape that can support most of eyelash extension styling. Cat-eye style is one of the best styles for almond eyes. With shorter lengths in the eyes' inner corners and longer lengths towards the eyes' outer edges, this style gives an illusion of longer and more narrow eyes. Another suitable style for almond-shaped eyes is Doll-eye effect. If you are looking for a style that creates cute rounder eye look, Doll-eye is your best pick.

10/  What foods should I have for longer and healthier lashes?

The best superfoods for promoting eyelash growth are avocados, sweet potatoes, nuts, salmon, eggs, and whole grains.

11/ Can I wear mascara with eyelash extensions?

Although having eyelash extensions means that you no longer need to wear mascara, not everyone can discontinue their mascara routine straight away. Some of you might therefore be questioning whether it is still ok to wear mascara with eyelash extensions. The answer is yes. However, mascara should be applied only on Classic lashes and not on Hybrid/Volume/Mega Volume lashes. The reason is that mascara will close volume fans, causing the lashes to clump together in an unattractive way and can lead lashes to fall out prematurely. In addition, please also avoid oil-based and waterproof mascara on lash extensions as it can break down the bond between eyelash extensions and natural lashes. Instead, you can look for water-based mascara that’s exclusively for eyelash extensions.

12/ Do eyelash extensions hurt?

The answer is no, given that eyelash extensions are applied properly by an experienced and certified professional who uses high-quality products. The most frequent reasons for pain with lash extensions are improper techniques and a sensitivity or allergy to the lash adhesive. If you experienced pain during or after your eyelash extension appointment, contact your lash stylist immediately for a resolution.

13/ When an eyelash extension falls out, one of my natural lashes falls with it. Is this normal?

Some people might be worry when they notice an extension fall out with a natural lash attached to it. Eyelash extensions are supposed to stay on your natural lashes until the natural lashes finish their cycle and shed. Therefore don’t panic when you see an extension comes off with a natural lash on it. That’s exactly what’s meant to happen, unless if the extension was caught and pulled off prematurely.

14/ Can I wear contact lenses with eyelash extensions?

It is safe to wear contact lenses with eyelash extensions. However, it is highly recommended that contact lenses should not be worn during the appointment to avoid risks of infection and dryness in the eyes. After the service, it is safe to put them back in. If you feel nervous about wearing contacts on the same day as getting your lashes done, glasses might be a better option. Contact lens users please be careful when putting in and taking out the lenses if you have eyelash extensions. It’s important not to pull out eyelash extensions during these processes to maintain the longevity of your eyelash extensions.

15/ Can I get a facial with eyelash extensions?

Yes, with proper timing, eyelash extensions can be worn during a facial treatment. Please keep in mind the following tips to ensure facial treatment doesn’t affect your eyelash extensions retention:

- Ideally, please try to schedule your facial a couple of days before or 3 days after your lash appointment. If this is not possible, it is recommended to wait for at least 4 hours to keep your lash glue dry after your eyelash extension service before getting a facial treatment.

- During the facial, please avoid any oil, heat, and steam near the eye areas.

16/ Can I exercise with eyelash extensions?
The answer is a conditional yes. If you wait for at least 4 hours after your eyelash extension service, it is safe to do exercise. The waiting period of 4 hours is crucial to settle the bond created by eyelash glue which is prone to be weakened by sweat. Once the waiting period is over, you can work out without affecting retention as long as you wash your eyelash extensions with an oil-free cleanser afterwards.
17/ Why eyelash extensions are so popular?

Eyes are windows of one’s soul. A pair of beautiful eyes can’t be perfect without thick eyelashes. Eyelash extensions have become increasingly popular because :

- They are able to add lengths, volume to natural lashes and can achieve the desired look that mascara can’t

- They save you a huge amount of time in the morning to get ready

- They cut down the need to use eyeliners and mascara as your eyes already have a defined look with eyelash extensions

- They are not permanent, meaning that you can change the style, thickness, lengths just like how you change your lipstick colours

- They can dramatically enhance your eyes, compliments your other beauty features, and instantly boost your confidence.

18/ Can I wear glasses with eyelash extensions?

Yes, you can. To avoid lashes touching your glasses, we often recommend shorter extensions. It is also a great idea if you can bring your glasses with you to your lash appointment so we can tailor-make a perfect lash set for you.

19/ Can make up be worn with eyelash extensions?

Yes, it is fine to wear makeup with eyelash extensions if you commit to remove the makeup completely with an oil-free makeup remover and clean your lashes with an eyelash extension-safe cleanser daily. The reason is that oil and dirt that are not completely removed from the makeup will gradually build up on the lash line and cause your eyelash extensions to fall out prematurely.Â
